Code 128 is flexible for logistics and internal SKUs. EAN-13 / UPC are retail product barcodes with fixed digit lengths and check digits.

Does the check digit get added?

Yes for formats that require it (EAN/UPC). Enter 12 digits for EAN-13 and the library computes the check digit when needed.
